May 2009 Testing Shedule

May 22nd/23rd 2009 Round One Formula Renault BARC 2009 Championship
Friday practice was a mixed day with the weather a factor as light rain was falling on and off all day. Callum has never driven at Oulton Park before in this circuit configuration and only tested once on the international circuit. The weekend was going to be a tough one for all.
Friday practice times mixed in the first three session as Callum was learning the circuit, but by the forth session Callum was not far off the pace.
Saturday Race day- Circuit conditions Dry
Qualifing - Callum put his Renault on P9, but never managed to get a clear lap or make the best of the new rubber. On data analysis for the session on the best rolling lap Callum would have been P5. So we have good race pace.
Round One
Callum got of to good start retaining his P9 grid slot. For a number of laps the battle for third place was between 6 cars all evenly matched with his team mate Don De Graaff making a storming start to slot into tenth from the back of the grid due to a mechnical failure of his car in qualifing. Unfortunatly on lap 5 with close racing Callum went for a gap left by Theodore on the approach to Cascades who had moved to the centre of the track behind De Graaff, but as Callum was three quarters though the corner, Theodore cut back across putting Callum onto the grass on the inside of Cascades, sending both cars into a spin. Callum managed to end up onto the escape road at foresters and rejoined the track, but was docked a lap due to cutting the track, even though he had good pace to pass Harris, and caught both Craven and Hamilton at the back of the field after the incident and making a pit stop to access the damage.
Clerk of the Course Ray Summer discussed the incident with Callum after the race and Callum's chain of events were confirmed by the on-track observers and no further action was necessary on Callum part.
Not the best of starts for the championship but there is a long way to go, but Callum posted the 6th quickest lap of the race and had good pace throughout. This track was always going to be tough as he had never raced here and only tested once on the international circuit.
Next Round at Snetterton on the 26th and 27th June which is a double header.
Like to see all Callums fans there, it should be a good weekend with Snetterton being one of Callums strongest circuits
