about callum
I came into Karting later than many of my peers, starting at 9 years old with indoor Karting at KlubKart in Aylesbury. After about 3 months of practicing I entered the club cadet competition for the summer season of 2000 and after a tight finish finished 3rd overall. I was hooked from there on. My Dad then booked me karting lessons with Protrain to allow me to gain my ARKS licence to compete at cadet level in MSA run competitions. Also my friend Ashley Richardson who also started karting at the KlubKart, started down the road of gaining her ARKS Licence. All my initial testing was carried out at Whilton Mill where Protrain are based.
My Dad then searched the various karting websites and magazines for a suitable kart with in our budget. Just by chance he found a Cadet Kart in Aylesbury being sold by Nick Short who's sons both raced. My First kart was a TonyKart Cadet 2000 model. Once we had the kart then we bought a brand new Comer S60 Engine from Kartel Motersport who were very helpful. In fact all the gear that we need to start karting was bought from Kartel.
Now we were up and running and started practicing in December 2000 at Whilton Mill in rain, sleet and snow. At the same time Ashley was testing and also I meet Martin Long who was also testing to gain his ARKS licence.
I finally gained my ARKS licence in FEB 2001, and started Cadet racing in March 2001 at Whilton Mill.
